It would seem plausible to say that the crew of “Dourran Shubra” have fallen victim to envy as a group of them have suffered either poisoning or broken bones. Actor Haitham Zakky developed poisoning which required his hospitalization whereas actor Ahmed ‘Azmy broke his foot and had it put in a cast. Moreover the mother of musician Hany ‘Adel – who also takes part in the work – has passed away.Despite these setbacks the filming of the series was not halted as the work’s remaining cast, namely Hourriyeh Farghaly, Mohamed Ramadan, Samy al-‘Adl, Dala ‘Abd Al ‘Azeez and ‘Afaf Shoa’ib, are shooting the scenes which involve them. The screenplay for “Dourran Shubra” was authored by ‘Amr al-Daly and the work is directed by Khaled al-Hajjar and produced by Egypt Global Films and BBC WST. The work discusses the relationship between Muslims and Christians in the district of Shubra and is among a handful of works which have commenced filming post the revolution.
