Cannes Palme D'Or Winner "Winter Sleep" To Be Screened Tonight At European Film Panorama

Nuri Bilge Ceylan's latest film Winter Sleep will be screened tonight at Zaywa theater, in downtown Cairo at 6:30 p.m, as part of the 7th Panorama of the European Film.

The Panorama's official Facebook page have revealed yesterday night that the organizers of the event have decided to screen the film at Odeon theater's biggest hall, which holds 400 seats, due to the unprecedented turnout, which was apparent from the number of tickets sold till then. The film is a 196-minute epic, following Aydin, a former actor, who runs a small hotel in central Anatolia with his young wife Nihal with whom he has a stormy relationship, and his sister Necla who is suffering from her recent divorce. In winter , as the snow begins to fall, the hotel turns into a shelter but also an inescapable place that fuels their animosities.

The film was the prestigious Golden Palm at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival's, in addition to the festival's FIPRESCI prize.

At the same time, Galaxy theater in Manial will be screening the documentary film The Do Gooders, in the presence of its director Chloe Ruthven, who will attend a Q&A with the audience after the screening.
