An Egyptian writer, director and producer, born in Port Said in 1939. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts', Journalism Department at Cairo University in 1964, and also studied script-writing in the Department of Free Studies at the High Cinema Institute, after which she worked as an assistant to directors Kamal El Sheikh and Niazi Mustafa, among others. Her directing career began in the mid-80s with films like Sea of Illusions, The Women, and A Woman Unfortunately. She died in 2012 from heart disease at the age of 73.
