Bassem Samra was born and raised in one of the villages in Giza, Egypt. He began his artistic career by starring in the short film Cairo Enlightening its People, by Youssef Chahine. After that, Director Yousry Nasrallah chose him to participate in the movie Mercedes with Yusra...Read more and Zaki Fateen Abdel Wahab. The cooperation continued with Nasrallah in the movie The City. (2000), through which Samra won the Carthage Film Days Award. Samra won the Best Actor Award at the Rotterdam Festival for his role in the movie Basra.

He has worked as a teacher and (an autobiographical film has been made about his life titled (“Sibyyan wa Banat”). The film is a lengthy documentary directed by Yosra Nasr Allah. He has also worked on several documentaries including. (“Amir min Misr”). He received the (Carthage film festival award) for (his work on the film) (“Al Madina”).
