A novelist, journalist, and screenwriter, born in Damietta on February 19, 1932. He worked as an art teacher for one year, then a journalist at Al Gomhuria newspaper, a full-time writer at Rosa al Yusuf newspaper, then a member of its board of directors, then a member of the Arab Writers Union, and a rapporteur for the story committee in the Supreme Council of Culture. His work has been translated into several languages. His most notable work includes the screenplays for the films The Postman, and The Conqueror of Darkness, the short stories The Shirt, and Face to Back, and the novels The Half-Meter Accident, and Seeds Of Corruption.
