Biography
An Egyptian novelist, he was born in the village of Mahalla Malik, in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate, on March 31, 1912. Amin did not have a proper education in his life, and he did not read a single letter until he reached the age of seventeen, despite his upbringing in a wealthy...Read more family. He read Arabic literature and translated Western literature, after which he began to discover in himself the seed of a writer, so he wrote the short story first. He did not move to Cairo until 1949, when he was thirty-seven years old, after he was strongly influenced by the traditions of the countryside, which explains that most of the characters in his stories come from the depths of the countryside. He's known for A Woman's Youth (1956), Lady Aziza (1961), They Taught Me Love (1957) and A Love Crime (1955). He passed away on December 27, 1970, at age 58.
