An Algerian director and screenwriter, born in 1938. He studied French literature, history, and cinema. He is considered one of the pioneers of Algerian cinema. He headed the first audio-visual center in Algeria after in 1962. He studied the history of cinema and became the head of the Foundation of the Algerian Center for the Film Industry. He participated in directing the movie, People's March (1963) tackling the liberation movement in Algeria. He is known for Ali in the Land of Mirage, and The Sparrow.
