Essaf grew up with a love of music ranging from rock to the classics. He was discovered by his neighbor who encouraged him to study music to cement his natural talent as a singer. This encouragement led Essaf to try out for the reality TV show "Star Maker" where he was chosen by...Read more the audience during season 2 as a crowd favorite. After winning Star Maker, he was supposed to sign on with them for 1 year, but the two parties were unable to resolve their differences in the contract, and thus parted amicably. Essaf suffered a personal tragedy when he lost his mother and disappeared from public view for a year. A year later, he met with producer Ahmed Eldessouky and negotiated a contract for his next album, which was delayed when Essaf again faced a personal tragedy with the loss of his father in the same year. His first major album "Has My Heart" was released in 2007, and contains a song entitled "Everyday" which he has dedicated to his deceased father.
