An English actor, born in 1960 in Hampshire, England as Colin Andrew Firth, but lived part of his childhood in Nigeria. He received acting training at the London Drama Center. Firth launched his career in 1983 by playing some small roles in film and television, but his real breakthrough was in the 1989 film Valmont. In 1995, Firth gained fame through his role in the British series Pride and Prejudice, and continued working on successful movies such as My Life So Far (1999), and Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003). He earned an Academy Award for Best Actor for the movie The King's Speech (2010), among other accolades. Firth also has several writings, and his first published work was the book 'Speaking with the Angel' in 2000. Firth was in a relationship with actress Meg Tilly in 1989 but they broke up in 1994. He married Italian producer Livia Giuggioli in 1997.
