Joseph Peter Pantoliano is an American actor who was born on September 12, 1951 in Hoboken, New Jersey. After graduating high school, he moved to Manhattan to pursue an acting career. His feature film debut was The Idolmaker (1980). He is best known as Captain Howard in the Bad Boys trilogy, Cypher in The Matrix (1999), and Teddy in Memento (2000). He won the 2003 Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in The Sopranos.
