Geoffrey Rush was born on July 6, 1951, in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, and is an only child whose father worked as an accountant. He is the first Australian actor to win an Academy Award. Rush starred in many movies such as Shakespeare in Love, Munich, and The King's Speech. He worked with many prominent directors and writers such as Julie Taymor, John Madden, Shekhar Kapur, and Philip Kaufman, and Australians such as Russell Mulcahy, Scott Hicks, and Gillian Armstrong. He also had successful experiences with Steven Spielberg and Gore Verbinski. In 1988, he got married to actress Jane Menelaus, and they have two children.
