Bill Cobbs, born on June 16, 1934, is an African American film and television actor with over 120 acting credits to his name. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to a domestic worker...Read more and a construction worker who instilled humility and a strong work ethic in him. Cobbs is truly a jack-of-all-trades. As a young chap, he acted in Cleveland's Karamu House Theater. He then worked as an Air Force radar technician for eight years. He also worked in office products at IBM and was a car salesman in Cleveland. In 1970, he moved to New York to pursue acting and supported his dream by driving a taxi, repairing office equipment, selling toys and doing various other odd jobs. He got his first gig in "Ride a Black Horse" at the Negro Ensemble Company, and made his screen debut in "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three" (1974). His film credits include "The Cotton Club" (1984), "The Color of Money" (1986), "Dominick and Eugene" (1988), "The Bodyguard" (1992), "Demolition Man" (1993), "Night at the Museum" (2006) and "Oz the Great and Powerful" (2013).
