Stephen John "Steve" Coogan is an English actor, stand-up comedian, impressionist, writer and producer. He began his career in 1980 as a voice artist on the puppet show Spiiting Image. Coogan's star began to rise in film in 2002, when he starred in the The Parole Officer, and 24 Hour Party People. In 2004, he played the character of Phileas Fog in the Around the World in 80 Days remake. Other films were Coogan played notable roles include The Other Guys, Tropic Thunder, In the Loop, and Night at the Museum. He was also a principal voice actor in the computer animated comedy Despicable Me 2. In 2013, Coogan co-wrote, produced and starred in the film adaptation Philomena, alongside Judi Dench, which earned him a Golden Globe and BAFTA nomination, and two Academy Award nominations, for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture.
