A British actress, born on June 7, 1909, Stoke Newington, London, England. She made her debut in The Indiscretions of Eve (1935). She won an Oscar in 1990 for Driving Miss Daisy. Her films include The Birds, *batteries not included, Driving Miss Daisy, and Fried Green Tomatoes. She died on September 11, 1994, in Easton, Connecticut, USA.
