American screenwriter, director, and producer. He was born on May 25, 1951 in University City, Missouri. He started his career by writing and directing the short film The Annihilator Attacks (1972). He's best known for co-writing Back to the Future (1985), and its sequels with director Robert Zemeckis, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1986.
