Chris Hemsworth is an Australian actor, born in Melbourne in 1983, and moved with his family to the Northern Territory before settling on Phillip Island in southern Melbourne. Chris initially applied to participate in the TV series Home and Away, but was not accepted, and was later called to play another character in the series than the one for which he had applied. He also participated in the Australian version of the famous program Dancing with the Stars. His first movie starring came in Hollywood through the sci-fi movie Star Trek, but what brought him fame in America was his role in Thor with his two parts, which were released in 2011 and 2013 and adapted from one of the most famous comics released by Marvel. He also took on the starring role in the movie Rush, in which he collaborated for the first time with Oscar-winning director Ron Howard.

He's signed on to resume his role in "Thor: The Dark World" in 2013. He first became well known in Australia for portraying Kim Hyde in the Australian TV series "Home and Away" (2004). He got his first film role playing George Kirk, father to James T. Kirk, in "Star Trek" (2009). In 2012 alone, he starred in "The Cabin in the Woods," "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Red Dawn." He is also the big brother of "The Hunger Games" heartthrob Liam Hemsworth.
