A British writer, born as Kathleen Mary Norton in Highbury, London, England. She was famous for writing children's stories, in addition to her work in theater before she moved to Portugal after marriage and left theatrical work, and then traveled to New York. Norton won the Carnegie Medal. She's known for Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971) and The Borrowers (1997). She died on August 29, 1992.
