Alan Wolf Arkin is an Oscar-winning American actor, director, musician and singer. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1934 to first generation children of Jewish Russian, German and Ukrainian immigrants. He is known for his memorable roles in "Wait Until Dark" (1967), "The...Read more Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming" (1966), "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" (1968), "Catch-22" (1970), "The In-Laws" (1979), "Edward Scissorhands" (1990), "Glengarry Glen Ross" (1992), "Thirteen Conversations About One Thing" (2001), "Little Miss Sunshine" (2004) for which he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, and most recently, Ben Affleck's "Argo" (2012). Arkin has authored many books, including a number of children's books. In March 2011, he penned a memoir titled "An Improvised Life." Arkin has been nominated for four Oscars total, for "The Russians Are Coming, "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter," "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Argo." He's also won a Tony award for a Broadway stint on "Enter Laughing." He currently lives in New Mexico with his third wife, Suzanne Newlander.
