Alan Wolf Arkin is an Oscar-winning American actor, director, musician and singer. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1934 to first generation children of Jewish Russian, German and Ukrainian immigrants. Arkin has authored many books, including a number of children's books. In March 2011, he penned a memoir titled "An Improvised Life." Arkin has been nominated for four Oscars total, for "The Russians Are Coming, "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter," "Little Miss Sunshine" and "Argo." He's also won a Tony award for a Broadway stint on "Enter Laughing." He currently lives in New Mexico with his third wife, Suzanne Newlander.
