English writer, actress, and director born on 29 May, 1965 in Cheshire, England, UK. She attended Goldsmiths College where she studied English and Drama (1983-1986), after which she trained as an actress at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff. Her most notable works include Jane Eyre (2011), Harlots (2017-2019), Viceroy's House (2017), and The Dig (2021).
