An American writer and director, born 1957. Gil grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in philosophy and literature, she moved to New York, and graduated from New York University with a master's degree in cinema studies. She made her debut in 1997, through the film Sprecher starring Lisa Kudrow. She has done a number of cinematic works as a director as well.
