Costa-Gavras is a French-Greek diretor, born on February 12, 1933 in Loutra-Iraias, Greece. Because of his family conditions, he had to move to France and started to study film at the French national film school, IDHEC. Meanwhile, he held many different positions such as assistant director for Jean Giono and René Clair, after which he made his feature directorial debut with Compartiment Tueurs (1965). He is also known for Z (1969), Amen (2002), West of Eden (2009), and Missing (1982) for which he won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
