American actress born on 23 August 1929 in Boise City, Oklahoma, US. In 1948, she won the title of Miss Kansas, which subsequently led her to acting. She rose to fame appearing in Alfred Hitchcock's The Searchers (1956). Her other works include Psycho (1960), The Wrong Man (1956), and The Man Who Shot Liberty Vance (1962).
