An American painter and writer, born in Michigan, United States. He is famous for writing several novels, such as The Garden of Abdul Ghasazi, for which he won the Hans Christian Andersen Prize in Literature. He also wrote Jumanji in 1981, and The Stranger in 1986. In April 2012, Chris received an honorary doctorate from the University of Michigan.
