Tchéky Karyo was born in Istanbul, Turkey, and grew up in Paris. He studied drama at the Cyrano Theatre, then joined the Daniel Sorano Company. Karyo eventually joined the National Theatre of Strasbourg. His notable work includes The Patriot, Kiss of the Dragon, and The Core.
