He graduated from New York University in 1933, after studying Business Administration, and then moved to Hollywood and worked at Fox. In 1949, he made his production debut in Champion. Among his most famous works are: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967), and Inherit the Wind (1960). He got married three times and his last marriage remained till his death on February 19, 2001 in Los Angeles, after he contracted pneumonia.
