He is a Spanish writer and director, born on February 15, 1969 in Burgos, Castilla y León, Spain. He studied at the American Film Institute, where his graduation film, A Table is a Table (2001), won the Best Cinematography Award from the American Society of Cinematographers. He is known for The Golden Dream (2013), I Want to Be a Pilot (2006), and The Constant Gardener (2005). Among his many awards and nominations, he received the Havana Star and the Silver Ariel Award for Best Director for La jaula de oro (2013).
