An American actor, writer, and director, born in New York, USA. He won several Emmy Awards, including the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series twice, in 1957 and 1958, for the series Caesar’s Hour. He also won the same award in the category of Outstanding Writing Achievement in Comedy for The Dick Van Dyke Show in 1962 and 1963. His other credits include The Jerk (1979) and Ocean's Eleven (2001). He died on June 29, 2020.
