American actress, born on December 25, 1952 in Georgetown, Guyana. She received her education in England, and moved to the United States in 1970. She studied theater in New York, and made her film debut in All That Jazz (1979). She won two Satellite Awards for Best Actress in a Drama Series for The Shield (2002). Among her notable works are Avatar (2009), and End of Days (1999).
