Ukrainian-Canadian director and producer, born in 1963 in Kyiv, Ukraine. He learned English when he was 16, and dropped out of his second year of film studies at Ryerson University in Toronto. He is known for a number of works, including: House of Sand and Fog (2003), The Life Before Her Eyes (2007), and Persian Language Lessons (2020).
