Wendy Richard is a British actress born in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, on July 20, 1943 as Wendy Emerton, and died in Marylebone, London, on February 26, 2009 of breast cancer. In 2007, she won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the British Soap Awards for her role in EastEnders. Wendy left school at the age of 15, then joined Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London, where she appeared on television for the first time in Sammy Davis Jr. Show.Wendy Richards is best known for her role as Pauline Fowler in the soap opera EastEnders. She acted in multiple movies, most notably Gumshoe (1971), and Carry On Girls (1973), as well as the sitcom Are You Being Served? (1972-1985).
