An American actor, born in Wisconsin, USA, and grew up in Massapequa, New York. He graduated from high school in 1964 before joining the Marines. He participated in the Vietnam War, was injured, and became a peace activist. He published his life story in a book entitled Born on the Fourth of July, which in 1989 was turned into a movie.
