A British novelist of Austrian descent, born in Vienna, Austria. After graduating from Bedford College with a bachelor's degree, she met Alan Ibbotson, her future husband, at Cambridge University while pursuing her PhD studies. After that, she graduated with a degree in teaching from the University of Durham in Britain in 1965, and during the 1960s, she worked as a teacher. Thanks to the citations of her literary works, she was able to exhibit several artistic works prior to entering the writing profession.
