He was born on August 4, 1954, in New York City, and grew up in California. He attended the University of New Mexico and transferred to the University of San Diego, where he played football and was a member of the school basketball team. He is known for Revenge of the Nerds (1984), Bloodsport (1988), and The A-Team (2010).
