American actress born in Thomasville, Georgia on 27 February 1930. She has won many awards including an Academy Award in 1958 and three Golden Globes. She married actor Paul Newman and they stayed together till he died in 2008. Some of her most notable works are The Three Faces of Eve (1957), The Long, Hot Summer (1958), Rachel, Rachel (1968), and Philadelphia (1993).
