An American actor, born in Washington, D.C. on February 10, 1892. He died in Hollywood, California, USA on January 22, 1950. Alan Hale received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960 for his film work. His most notable films include: It Happened One Night (1934), The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), The Sea Hawk (1940), and Action in the North Atlantic (1943). His first silent film was The Cowboy and the Lady (1911), and when sound was introduced to film, he quickly became one of the most sought-after character actors, as he appeared in dozens of Warner Bros. films in the thirties and forties. His first talkie was Sal of Singapore (1928). He appeared in many feature films, including 13 films with his friend Errol Flynn, most notably The Adventures of Robin Hood.
