An English playwright and screenwriter born in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, UK. He attended Charterhouse (1924-1929) then studied law at Lincoln College, Oxford. He worked as an assistant editor and correspondent for The Morning Post. He wrote and produced plays for the Harrogate "White Rose Player" (1932-1937). He served in the war (1939-1942) as a captain with an artillery regiment defending Iceland. He's known for Thunderball (1965) and Never Say Never Again (1983). He died on 3 July 1972 in Valletta, Malta.
