She is an American actress, writer, and producer. She was born on May 17, 1984 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Her great-grandfather, Winston Waithe, emigrated from Barbados to Boston in 1921, his family descended from sugar plantation slaves. She is known for Master of None (2021), Ready Player One (2018), and Queen & Slim (2019). She became the first African-American woman to win an Emmy in Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Master of None: Thanksgiving (2017). She was married to Alana Mayo in November 2019 but they after 2 months of marriage.
