American actress born in Joliet, Illinois on 20 December 1917. She was married to Dr. Leo Fred and they had one daughter. Her notable film roles include The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946), Lady in the Lake (1946), The Unsuspected (1947), and Tension (1949). In the 1960s and 1970s, she focused on TV, as she appeared in a number of series, including Cimarron City (1958-1959) and Our Man Higgins (1962-1963). She died on 12 December 2013 in Los Angeles, California, at age 95.
