An Iraqi writer and director, born in Baghdad to Iraqi parents. He studied physics and obtained a BA in English from AL-Ma'moon University College. He also holds a degree in cinema from the Brighton Academy in Britain. He is a member of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate and a founding member of the Arab Union of Civil Society Organizations in Cairo. His start in directing was in the early 1980s with the plays If and Where to on the stage of the University of Southampton in Britain. In the early 1980s, he moved on to work on television with the famous four-season epic series Mud House, which aired on the Al Sumaria channel.
