An Indian presenter and actress, born on November 25, 1939 in Lucknow, British India. She worked for All India Radio before moving to London in the 1950s, where she joined the Hindi language department of BBC World Service Radio. She served as a presenter on BBC TV's Asian programs, presented Indian cooking on BBC, and also wrote a number of cookbooks. Besides her film roles, she has appeared in a number of British TV shows. Some of her credits include Brick Lane (2007) and Eastern Promises (2007).
