She was a Japanese actress and voice actress, born on May 21, 1911, in Tokyo, Japan. She launched her career as a stage actress, and in 1950, she became a founding member of the famed Mingei Theatre Company. She rose to prominence early in her career for her portrayal of elderly women. She is known for her roles in Dai yûkai (1991), Amida-do dayori (2002), and Kiku to Isamu (1959). She died at the age of 98 on April 27, 2010, in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan, from pneumonia.
