An Iraqi singer born in Maysan Governorate, Iraq. He is considered the first Iraqi singer to sing Gulf Arabic, and he began singing under the influence of Abdel Halim Hafez and some Arab singers. He learned Arabic singing because of his ambition to gain fame outside Iraq. He collaborated with composer Baligh Hamdi on four songs, participated in many festivals and celebrations, presented his art in many concerts inside and outside Iraq, obtained a master’s degree in singing styles in Southern Iraq, and joined the Higher Institute of Arab Music in Cairo to obtain a doctorate in cradle songs. After he graduated from the College of Arts, Department of English Literature, at Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad, he entered the Institute of Fine Arts, Oud Branch, in 1985. The period between 1986 and 1990 was the most important in his life as he studied in London and obtained a master’s degree. After that, he left for Egypt and submitted a doctoral thesis.
