An American actor born in New York. He made his first appearance in Italian-speaking broadcast in 1931, and made his Broadway debut in 1932. He studied sculpting and drama at NYU, and showcased some of his work in galleries in New York in 1939. He taught at the National Theater and taught sculpting at NYU. He made his acting debut on Slattery's Hurricane (1949). His notable works include Playhouse 90 (1957-1958), Al Capone (1959), and Beau Geste (1966). His final appearance was in How Rare a Possession: The Book of Mormon (1987). He married three times and had two children. He died of chronic obstructive lung disease on 30 August 1989 in Utah.
