An American-French actress, born on March 6, 1940, in Nice, France, to Jeanne Patterson Miles, an American painter, and Johannes Schiefer, a French painter and art curator. Joanna immigrated to the United States and was naturalized in 1941. In 1958, she graduated from The Putney School, a progressive, independent high school in Putney, Vermont. She started her artistic career in New York, acting in a number of plays, TV shows, and movies. She is known for Judge Dredd (1995) and The Glass Menagerie (1973).
