She is a Chinese dancer, actress, and singer, born in July 1939 in Trinidad. She moved to London at the age of 16 and studied ballet at Elmhurst Ballet School. She enrolled in a three-year degree program at the Royal Academy of Dancing but dropped out after one year and joined the Teahouse of the August Moon. She played the title role in the 1961 theatrical performance in Australia before becoming a major dancer in the London West End version of The King and I. She is known for Cleopatra (1963), Marco Polo (2016), and Armchair Theatre (1967).
