A British actor born Cecil Schwabe in East Sussex, UK. He began his career in theater in 1922 and worked till he became a star on the West End and a well-known face in British cinema. His notable works include The Lady Vanishes (1938), Under Capricorn (1949), The Ladykillers (1955), and The Court Jester (1955). He married Muriel Ann Randall Brown and they had one child. He died on 20 April 1971 in East Sussex, UK.
