Scottish actress, born as Eileen Isobel Herlihy, in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, on 8 March, 1918. Her career spanned over 7 decades, and she had a 32-year long tenure on the soap opera All My Children (1976-2008). She began acting in 1938 but made her film debut in 1947. Her other notable works include Hamlet (1948), The Sea Gull (1968), and The Angel with the Trumpet (1950). She married twice and was twice divorced with no children. She died on 8 October, 2008, in New York City, New York, US.
