She was an American actress and soprano, born on May 10, 1930, in Riverside, Illinois, USA, to Swedish and English parents. She studied opera at Los Angeles City College and participated in the opera theater program. She performed regularly at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City between 1953 and 1970. She excelled in portraying roles in operas. Her most notable works include The Steve Allen Plymouth Show (1957), Producers' Showcase (1956), and Serenade (1956).
