A British writer and playwright, born on September 16, 1948, in Hampstead, London, England, UK, as Julia Catherine Shields. Her credits include Storytime (2020-2021) and CBeebies Bedtime Story (2009-2019). She is married to Malcolm Donaldson. Julia was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2011 Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to literature. She is the 2011–2013 Children's Laureate and is best known for her popular children's stories which include "The Gruffalo", "Room on the Broom", and "Stick Man".
