An American character actress, born in Washington, District of Columbia, USA, on September 16, 1888. She married Albert Allen (1936-1940) and their marriage ended in divorce. She is known for The Diary of a Chambermaid (1946), The Bishop's Wife (1947), Woman Who Came Back (1945),...Read more and Sullivan's Travels (1941). She appeared in vaudeville, radio, film, and television for 60 years, where she continued to work until her eighties, usually playing small roles as an aunt, landlady, and others. She made her debut in 1909 in a comic opera. She performed comedic songs in nightclubs before appearing in New York in many theater productions and Broadway productions. In 1940, she worked on Bob Hope's radio program. She died in Los Angeles, California, USA, on August 3, 1974.
